John is a self taught guitarist and church organist and has been playing and composing for over 40 years. He is currently worship leader in an inner city Church of Scotland. He is married with three kids and numerous grandchildren.

His musical influences include  The Beatles, the Shadows, The Monkees (not the Arctic variety) and Gordon Lightfoot. The classical composers Dvorak, Elgar, Vaughan Williams and jazz guitarist Ivor Mairants for whom he used to work.

In days gone by he earned a crust playing in bars and restaurants in his native Scotland. Guitar sales, building and repairing have also played their part.
